I am proud of my beginnings. I still consider myself to be the Varnum Street daughter of Elbert. Elbert C. Robinson, my father, was a lawyer who served as a diplomat under Lyndon B. Johnson. My interest and passion of learning were fostered by my mother, Verna Cotten Robinson, a teacher and librarian. Their influence both gave me wings and anchored me.

Directing and Storytelling Through Film
I became more involved in directing and producing around 2013. I was able to share things from my own viewpoint during this stage of my life. Last Call, Wish Me Luck, and Human Revolution are some of my endeavors.

I first learned about the process of recording a living legend through my short film Betye Saar The Alpha and Omega. Afterwards, I devoted years to creating the feature documentary Betye Saar Ready to Be a Warrior, which examines her ideology, art, and life.
Making these movies was like putting history into motion and capturing soul in addition to imagery.

Art has always been my anchor. Beyond filmmaking, I am deeply involved as an art collector and advocate, particularly for Black artists and cultural preservation. I have supported galleries, collaborated with institutions, and contributed to initiatives that uplift creative voices.
My identity as a Francophile and globetrotter continues to influence my collecting. Each piece I acquire feels like a conversation across time and culture.
Public Presence and Ongoing Work
In recent years, I have remained active through social media, sharing glimpses of my life as an artist, mother, and philanthropist. I participate in foundation events, appear at film festivals, and continue to support my sons in their creative endeavors.
In 2025, our family property in the Sherman Oaks area was listed for sale, marking another transition. Life, I have learned, is a series of chapters, each one unfolding with its own meaning.
